Mommas Boy

Through all of the findings we can clearly state that there is an underlining factor that, pre-determines how our parents may be the perfect role models for our future partners.
However, those who did not have happy childhood memories of their fathers chose men who looked very different.
Previous studies have shown the phenomenon is not restricted to daddy's girls, with mummy's boys actively seeking out women who look like their mothers.
The phenomenon, known as sexual imprinting, may have evolved to help youngsters choose a compatible mate.
By modeling their own choice of mate on their parents' successful marriage, a daddy's girl or mummy's boy may increase their own chances of having a happy partnership.
In addition, they may believe that a man who looks like their father or a woman who looks like their mother is more likely to be a good parent.
The same thinking could lead to those with bad childhood memories actively avoiding hooking up with a partner who reminds them of one of their parents.

The Experiment

Aim:
To view what factor attracts people from different genders to one another.

Hypothesis:
Finding out that male’s find woman that have the same traits as their mothers are more attractive. Than those who don’t share any similarities to their mothers. While woman are more attracted to men who have the same traits as their fathers.

Method:

§ Comprise a questionnaire which won’t cause any discomfort or displeasure for the person.

§ Keep track of my variables within the experiment e.g. the age of those people I am interviewing.

§ Vary the people when it comes to race or religion.

§ Explore the internet in order to aid me with my investigation.

§ Compile information from questionnaires, books and websites for the investigation.

§ With all the information gathered make my final research project.

Materials:

· 4 black pens
· 100 questionnaires
· Camera
· Internet: Create a blog
· Paper
· 50 males and 50 females
· Video camera

Literature review & Proposal on human attraction

There have been many studies on what attracts females to males or how males are attracted to females. Most of the underlining factors are:
Exterior:
1) Wealth
2) Dressing style
3) Looks
4) Scent
5) Education

Interior:
1) Personality
2) Intelligence
3) Emotion est. empathy
4) Family bond

Even though there are so many factors that cause human attraction, could there be one more powerful factor that aids us n identifying what cause people to attract to one another.

I will be investigating and compiling information based on how males and females are attracted to one another, through parental and their own physical and internal traits.

A similar experiment had been done by an Australian psychologist Dr. Melanie Ronan. Her experiment was based on how future and present couples/mates shared similar facial and physical traits. For example a man with a roman shaped nose, found woman with the same nose attractive. She compiled a group of 10 men and 10 women who were all 21 she placed the people within 2 different rooms separated them according to their gender, they were each quizzed about what they were looking for in their partner.
The women were told to exit the room quietly, and they were told to enter a room one by one. The room had a double sided mirror where one side was visible but the other wasn’t. So the girl could see the men but the men couldn’t see the girl, but the girl would be able to see them. Each girl was given a chance to pick one guy who she thought was attractive this continued for three hours. Then it was done again except the men were picking the girls it took the men about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Through the questionnaires, notes and video footage she gathered she was able to surmise that 60% of those people who were questioned and viewed, were attracted to people who had the same physical and emotional traits like them.

Unlike her experiment mine will be based on whether a man is attracted to a woman, who has the same traits as his mother or if a woman is attracted to a man with the same traits as her father.
I will be trying to evaluate how people selectively decide what they would like or enjoy in their, ideal partner. Also to view whether is genetically predisposed within our brains to find the “ONE” As so many people have been trying to look for.
